Apple is working on an updated version of the HomePod it could be in the fourth quarter of 2022 or the first quarter of 2023, according to an Apple analyst Ming Chi Kuo.

Kuo says there “may not be a lot of innovation in hardware design” for the new ‌HomePod‌, and it’s unclear how big the device will be and whether it will be a HomePod mini successor or larger speaker.

Bloombergit is Marc Gurman previously said that Apple is considering a new version of HomePod which is said to be sized between the original ‌HomePod‌ and the ‌HomePod mini‌, and it’s possible this is the speaker Kuo is talking about.

Such a speaker would perhaps replace the now discontinued ‌HomePod‌, and it would be more expensive than the ‌HomePod mini‌ but cheaper than the larger ‌HomePod‌.

Gurman also thinks that Apple is work on speakers equipped with screens and cameras to compete with devices such as the Google Nest Hub and Amazon Echo Show, but these devices are not expected to launch in the near future. Additionally, Apple is exploring a device that is a iPad connected to a ‌HomePod‌ via a robotic arm so that the camera can follow a user around the room, and it tests versions of the AppleTV which are combined with a ‌HomePod‌.
