An esports pro has been lambasted after a video emerged online in which an individual allegedly fortnite The Champion Sin Series Grand Finals contestant, shows a fully stocked weapons closet and states, in 2022, that the stockpile of guns is “just in case there’s a zombie apocalypse or an outbreak of wrath.” Sigh, I really hate this world we sometimes live in.

Sin, or Sin3278, is not new to the professional gaming circuit. According to the Player Statistics Tracking Database fortnite TrackerSin has participated in various tournaments since at least July 2019. He made his first fortnite Champions Series (or FNCS) in October 2020, which is quite significant. The FNCS is fortnitethe most publicized esports competition. I mean, it’s even hosted by developer Epic Games. Getting on this stage is basically fortnite celebrity. He didn’t rank that high in his first outing, but has continued to compete in the FNCS over the years. He slowly rose through the ranks, and on May 22, he and teammate Duos Acro placed second in a semi-final competition, securing them a place in this week-end Grand Final. You can watch the conclusion of the tournament on fortnitethe official YouTube channel of.

That same day, comrade fortnite pro and FNCS North America East competitor Nexy shared a video of Sin in which Sin, standing inside what appeared to be a very white closet, allegedly displayed his “arsenal” of deadly weapons. There are multiple shotguns, pistols, carbines, blades and ammo loads and loads. All of this, Sin said in the short clip, was “just in case there was a zombie apocalypse or an outbreak of wrath.” As if such a thing would be a raison d’etre this attached.

“It’s crazy how [this] Sin3278 kid is allowed to play grand piano after tweeting this,” Nexy said alongside the 13-second video. It spread quickly, catching the attention of esports watchdog Jake Lucky, who also tweeted his disbelief. Lucky then shared a screenshot in which Sin dubbed on videoconfirming that it is indeed him and saying that he “has never threatened anyone or said [he’s] will do anything. There are other receipts of Sin’s tweets circulating as well, where he further defended the video and admitted to being “racist and proud”.

Kotaku has reached out to Epic Games and Nexy for comment.

Acro, Sin’s teammate, has distanced himself statements of Sin. He tweeted that he doesn’t “agree with” everything Sin did or said. However, it also appears that Acro has hidden answers which show him previously reacting to Sin’s video in a more light-hearted way, with the crying and laughing emoji.

Kotaku has contacted Acro and Sin for comment.

Sin’s statements pissed off the competition fortnite stage. Some players, like Jonathan “calculating yung” Weber, tweeted that this video needed more attention from something like the FBI. Pro Alexander “Av” Vanderveen mentioned the developer “had information about [Sin] for a week” with no enforcement yet. And some black players, such as Apex Legends Ninjayla Streamer and Sergio Brack, athletic director of the University of Maryland expressed how it affects black people. Brack said, “We don’t just create this stuff. Black people aren’t valued, protected or respected in this space and I’m reminded of that on a regular basis…” Let me tell you, Brack isn’t wrong here.

As of now, Epic Games hasn’t publicly addressed the issue, so it’s unclear if the video will impact Sin’s involvement in FNCS and how it will all play out. This all comes shortly after Buffalo, New York, was rocked by a hate-fueled massacre in which an 18-year-old white man shot up a local grocery store in a predominantly black neighborhood and streamed the killings on Twitch. . Government agencies like the DOJ and politicians including Attorney General Letitia James are investigating both the filming and streaming pthetform.
