Five Standout Games From IGN’s Summer Of Games Showcase

Five Standout Games From IGN's Summer Of Games Showcase
Written by admin_3fxxacau

This afternoon, IGN presented its now annual Summer of Games presentation, which featured an abundance of game trailers spanning all genres and tastes. Wesley LeBlanc, my fellow associate editor, and I watched the show together and picked out a handful of titles that we look forward to seeing more of in the future. Now this list will not contain the big names in the series like Gungrave GOREDNF Duel, The Walking Dead, or the latest Aliens: Fireteam Elite expansion, but instead highlight some games you might not already be familiar with. Check out these great indie titles coming to a gaming machine near you:

The last worker

The Last Worker received a new trailer during IGN’s Expo stream today, showcasing more of the game’s exciting voice cast. Speaking of that voice cast, today’s trailer showed off a big talent: Jason Isaacs (Lucious Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies), Zelda Williams (Robin Williams’ daughter!), Tommie Earl Jenkins (Die-Hardman in Death Stranding), Clare-Hope Ashitey (master of nothing), Ólafur Darri Ólafsson and David Hewlett. As for what to expect, developer Oiffy describes the game like this in today’s trailer description:

“Protagonist Kurt needs some type of break but just can’t seem to find one in this trailer for The Last Worker. This narrative adventure explores what happens when humans are replaced by robots in a shipping warehouse in a terminally capitalist environment.

The Last Worker is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and PC (as well as unspecified VR platforms) this year.

Pasha Roots

Roots of Pasha was announced last year, but today’s trailer gave us another look at the beautiful Stardew Valley-like farming game. It also features more of the game’s extremely catchy music. And to coincide with that, we’ve taken a look at the musical rhythm mini-game in Roots of Pacha. The latest from Soda Den has a Steam demo you can play right now, and if you redeem the code “Smiley” you’ll get an exclusive cat hat to use.

Here’s how Roots of Pacha is portrayed in IGN’s trailer released today:

“Roots of Pacha lets you build, harvest crops, befriend animals, and help grow your village in single-player or co-op mode. This Roots of Pacha gameplay trailer showcases new elements that you can discover while playing.

ship of fools

A new Ship of Fools trailer was released today, revealing Fika Productions’ sailing roguelike is coming to consoles. Additionally, this colorful and chaotic game will feature both online and couch co-op. The new trailer also reveals another look at the frenetic gameplay as well as its many in-game shops to visit and the map we’ll be using to navigate these treacherous waters. Ship of Fools is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and PC this year.

Under Orese

From the spirit of Broken Spear Inc. comes Beneath Oresa, a new deck-building roguelike that takes players on an adventure through the tunnels beneath the town of Oresa. Each character you take into the tunnels has different perks to use as you try to survive in the wet and dangerous basement. The new trailer shown in today’s IGN showcase revealed a new boss, a hulking, meaty mass of a monster with a makeshift spear in hand, and charging at the player character from the darkness. Sous Oresa is beautiful and intriguing. If you also want to check it out before its nebulous 2022 release date, there’s a demo to check out right now on Steam.

Sacrifice

This JRPG from developers Pixelated Milk is not only fun to watch, but it looks like it could be a great throwback to classic role-playing adventures. Pseudo-mimicking the HD-2D styling that Square Enix has used for the past few years, SacriFire has that cool new-school retro look that we love to see. It combines both real-time combat elements and traditional turn-based action to create what we hope will be exciting, strategic gameplay. Currently, SacriFire doesn’t have a set release date, but it’s expected to hit PC sometime this year.
