The Xbox and Bethesda games showcase was the boatload of game announcements we were hoping for. From a detailed Starfall analysis, a long look at Forza Motorsport, and extensive Redfall gameplay, we got everything we wanted. There were also nearly three dozen games announced during Microsoft’s hour-long showcase, read on to catch up on all the announcements. And be sure to stick around for Xbox and Bethesda Games Extended Showcase next week, which we’ll also be covering as part of IGN’s Summer of Gaming.
Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase Highlights
Redfall is finally making its second appearance at the Xbox and Bethesda showcase. This time we got a gameplay trailer featuring Layla and her telekinetic abilities and spectral lifts. We also got a full look at the island where the game will take place.
The trailer also featured all of the characters’ abilities in Red Fall. Jacob has a deadeye type ability from Red Dead Redemption 2, plus an invisibility cloak and a spectral raven that can fly at enemies. Remi de la Rosa is an engineer with a robot companion equipped with a vampire-killing machine gun. Next, Devinder offers deep knowledge of vampires and brings macgyver gear to trap enemies.
Hollow Knight Silksong
Hollow Knight Silksong was announced as the day one Xbox Game Pass release at the Xbox and Bethesda storefront. The Hollow Knight sequel follows a new main character named Hornet as they explore a distant realm from the original game. The trailer showed off more of the game’s frenetic combat and Metrovania-style exploration.
Raised on life
High on Life is the next FPS game from the creators of Rick and Morty. From the trailer, it looks like we can expect a ton of jokes and weird guns, grenades, and other tools that respond to you as well.
Microsoft has announced that Riot Games’ biggest titles will soon be coming to Xbox Game Pass. We’re recording a sizzling trailer of games coming to the service, including League of Legends, League of Legends: Wild Rift, Valorant, Legends of Runterra, and Teamfight Tactics. Now, while these games are technically free, locked Operators, Maps, and Champions will become free purchases when they come to Xbox Game Pass.
A Plague’s Tale: Requiem
Today we also received a new, longer gameplay trailer for A Plague’s Tale: Requiem. From the trailer, it’s clear that the story will take a darker turn as our protagonist, Amicia of Rune, becomes crueler and more aggressive in killing her enemies.
The upcoming Forza Motorsport has finally received a gameplay trailer showing off the new level of realistic graphics the game will debut. The game is confirmed to feature more realistic ray tracing and damage to cars as they bump into each other and the track. The trailer also revealed several new cars, including a race-ready golf cart.
Microsoft Flight Simulator
Microsoft Flight Simulator celebrates its 40th anniversary with the addition of a ton of new aircraft, including gliders and helicopters.
Additionally, Xbox announced that Halo-themed vehicles will be coming to the game today and players will be able to pilot the USNC Pelican.
Overwatch 2 has been announced as an October 2022 release on Xbox and Bethesda Showcase. The new gameplay trailer also gave us a look at all the new character looks. Additionally, we met Overwatch’s newest character, the Junker Queen, who is a badlands gladiator warrior who wields a lever-action rifle and a large axe. Overwatch 2 Early Access begins October 4, 2022.
Ara’s Untold Story
Announced a few days ago, Ara History Untold is a grand turn-based historical strategy game. It will be available from day one on Windows PC with PC Game Pass, although no release date has yet been announced.
The Elder Scrolls Online: High Isle
Elder Scrolls Online’s High Isle expansion will be released on June 21.
Fallout 76: The Pitt
The Pitt, a classic Fallout 3 location, is coming to Fallout 76 in September.
Forza Horizon 5 Hot Wheels DLC
Forza Horizon 5 is getting a Hot Wheels DLC. Similar to the Hot Wheels expansion from Forza Horizon 3 and Hot Wheels Unleashed, this expansion will feature tracks with winding paths, vertical turns, and loops, plus a ton of Hot Wheels toy cars. The Forza Horizon 5 Hot Wheels DLC will be released in July.
Ark 2 got another reveal trailer and is now slated for release next year in 2023, a bit delayed from its original 2022 release date compared to last year’s reveal. It has also been confirmed that it will be released day one on Game Pass.
We got a first trailer of Scorn’s extremely graphic and sloppy gameplay. The HR Giger-inspired world features plenty of meaty gore, with every surface and character made up of bloody skin, organs and bones. Scorn has also been announced for release on October 21, 2022 and it will be available day one on Game Pass.
Flintlock: The Seat of Dawn
Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is a third-person action RPG in which you wield both firearms and melee weapons. It will be released in early 2023 and it’s available day one on Xbox Game Pass.
Minecraft Legends is a new action-strategy game coming to Xbox and PC next year in 2023. Mojang’s latest project will release Game Pass Day One.
Light Year Frontier
Lightyear Frontier is a new robot exploration game that reminds us a bit of Journey to a Savage Planet. It will be released in the spring of 2023 as Day One on Game Pass.
The shot is reborn
Gunfire Reborn a roguelike shoot-em-up that will be released in October 2022
The Last Case of Benedict Fox
The Last Case of Benedict Fox is a new story-driven Metroidvania game with a gothic art style. The trailer showed how the gameplay would revolve around entering the consciousness of a deceased person and their supernatural abilities. It releases Spring 2023 and it’s confirmed to be day one on Xbox Game Pass.
As dusk falls
As Dusk Falls is the first game of INTERIOR/NIGHT. It features rotoscoped graphics and it will be an interactive drama playable with up to eight. It comes out on July 19 and it comes out on Xbox Game Pass Day One.
Naraka Bladepoint is coming to consoles for the first time with confirmed cross-play and a new campaign mode. Naraka Bladepoint releases on Xbox on June 23, 2022.
Obsidian revealed its next Pentiment game as a narrative detective story set in 16th century Bavaria. Pentiment follows Andreas Maler, a traveling artist who stops at an abbey to make an illuminated manuscript, but the story takes a turn when Andrea’s mentor is framed for murder. Now it’s up to you to solve the case and apparently it could take up to 25 years and Andreas will continue to be caught up in incidents.
Grounded is finally leaving Early Access in September after its initial release in July 2020.
Legacy of the Shadow of Ereban
Ereban Shadow Legacy is set to release in 2023 and it’s confirmed day one on Xbox Game Pass.
Diablo IV showed off the Necromancer class as its latest new class was confirmed for the game. We saw new gameplay played on an Xbox of the character class raising dead allies and throwing skulls. Diablo IV will be released next year with cross-play and cross-progression on PC, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and Switch.
sea of thieves
Sea of Thieves has announced that its Season 7 update is coming. The update will allow users to purchase, name, and command their own ship. You will also be able to further customize your cabin to your liking.
Ravenlok is a 2023 release that will be coming to Game Pass on day one.
The studio behind Limbo has a new game called Cocoon and it’s slated for release in 2023.
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty
Wo Long Fallen Dynasty is a new Team Ninja game set in Japan and filled with mythical creatures. It’s releasing in early 2023 and it’s confirmed to be day one on Xbox Game Pass.
A slew of Persona games are coming to Xbox, including Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal. They’re confirmed to be coming to Game Pass, but only Persona 5 has a release date, currently set for October 21.
Hideo Kojima and Xbox partnership
Microsoft announced that it was working with Hideo Kojima on a new game. Without revealing much, Kojima simply stated that “It’s a game I’ve always wanted to make.”
Starfield has finally received the gameplay trailer we’ve been waiting for. The game seems to offer a much more space exploration experience grounded in exploring planets, shooting enemies, mining, scanning, and digital lock picking.
We also received a trailer for Starfield which revealed that we will be on the hunt for galaxy-altering alien artifacts and will have to face space factions.
We also looked at the character builder, from traits to the skill system, customizable weapons, as well as a base and starship builder. And in case you were worried about exploring the galaxy from a map menu, the spaceships are fully flyable and you will also do space combat with enemies.
As for scale, Starfield revealed that it will take place in a cluster of over 100 solar systems, one of which contains nine fully explorable planets.
Starfield will be released in 2023 on Xbox consoles and PC.
